ipod touch, what is that light for?

in iPod + iTunes + AppleTV edited January 2014
Have a look at your touch.

Above the screen (when holding it vertically) there is a little circle behind the glass that looks like a hole in the black panel. It looks like a light.



Would be great if it was a camera but its not. It might not even be anything, but its definately there for a reason.



Any ideas people?

    My guess would be the light sensor??!
