Burning PC Game On OS X

I was wondering if there was a way for me to copy my Windows PC CD game, The Sims (I don't know if you heard of it, its a pretty unpopular game;-} ) to a CD-R just to back it up (but as a back up i could use if say the original first disc broke or was lost. Too many of my discs have been getting way too scratched and I dont feel like shelling out another 40 bucks for the complete sims package again. Can I just do it with disc utility? Your quick response is very encouraged. Thank you!

Games usually have protection on them that doesn't get copied during duplication. If the game requires the CD to be in during play, it is likely it won't recognise a copied disc. You'd have to get some no-CD crack in order to play it (easy to find via google though).

It should be possible to copy the disc via Disk Utility - if you have just one drive, choose file menu > new disk image from device, when the disc is in it will show as disk0s3 or something. Then you burn that back to a CD.
