Themeing QuickTime question

Having some questions about hacking the QuickTime application GUI here. Maybe Synotic or starfleetX might know the answer. The resources are stored here:

QuickTime Player.app/Contents/Resources/QuickTime Player.rsrc

If you look there is a "tiff" resource. You take the hex contents of the tiff resources and paste them in a new file's data fork and then save that file with a .tiff extension you'll be able to see the widget artwork. The problem I am having is.. there seems to be some kind of mask that isn't visible. How do I edit these resources and the mask?

Have you tried editing the tiff in Photoshop? That should let you edit the alpha channel.
