Startup skips my Login Panel & goes into Darwin!

My computer starts up then it skips my login panel and it goes into darwin/console black screen with a command line where it asks me to login.

Does anyone know what to do?

If been searching Apple Support and haven't found nothing. If even rebooted in to safe mode but it still does the same thing.

You can get to that by logging in using the username 'console' at the login prompt. If you type your username and password and then type logout, does it take you to the login window? Don't hold down the power button every time you reach that prompt if you are. Log in and use shutdown or reboot commands.

You can try using Disk Utility to repair by booting from the install DVD or by booting into single user mode and typing fsck -y.

If you can't get to the login prompt by logging out and disk utility does nothing, another thing you can try is to restart the Mac setup assistant.

Boot into single user mode holding command-s at startup.

type mount -uw / and hit return.

type rm /private/var/db/.AppleSetupDone and hit return.

then type reboot and hit return.

This should kick in the setup and you should be able to create a new user. Don't create the same one you had but make a new one.

If none of that works, you may have to reinstall the OS but do so using the archive and install method:

You mean logging out just took you to a blue screen or booting into single user mode and deleting the setup file?

Ah in that case it seems you will likely have to do an archive install. It doesn't erase your files, it just restores your system folder.
