Plug in a 20 inch monitor to a MacBook Pro?

Hey guys, I have the new Samsung SyncMaster 206BW 20 inch monitor. But soon I will be switching to a MacBook Pro. I was wondering if it is possible to plug the monitor in the MacBook Pro and have the OS show on screen etc. So basically using the Macbook Pro as the computer and just outputting it on screen. Thanks guys
