Wiping clean a mac that wont boot.

Hey peeps,

Your ideas please.

My Mac book wont reboot. Ive fixed it through a diagnostic but it still sits at a grey screen.

Ive been qouted $250 smackers to fix it, but want to do it on my own.

Does anyone have any links to

1) Transfer my hard drive to another via firewire cable,

2) Wipe clean a mac that wont boot up,

3) re install all my software

4) transfer all my data back to my mac.

Otherwise, I'll bite the freakn' bullet and get raped for $250.

Regards,

Mike.

I?m very new to Mac after a 6 year absence and am going along ignorant most times trying to learn the new lingo. I?d suggest to do nothing until more experienced heads try to help. In my short experience with Leopard I seemed to destroy 2 FW external HDs. They would not show up on the Mac and on one app in windows showed as BAD. This was after using them for a short while. Finally used my TechTool Pro disk and it fixed both of them. GL

Could you be more specific? Can it boot from the system install disk?
