MacMail stopped downloading mail

A couple of days ago, my MacMail stopped automatically downloading mail from my ISP Comcast. I can't get it to download even when I click "Get Mail. I checked the Preference settings and they seem to be the same as before the problem started.

Any suggestions? What info do you need to help me?

My MacMail is up and running again. Comcast changed both the Incoming and Outgoing server ports. I went to the Comcast site and found the new settings. Now why couldn't they have given a heads up? I phoned Comcast and got only a 'canned' answer.

When I went to the Comcast site last week, the ports were Outgoing - 25 and the Advanced - 110.

Checking the site now, the ports are Outgoing - 587 and the Advanced - 110. Evidently, they change.

Try these Comcast sites to make sure: http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/inde...ail_(Mac)17746

If 587 and 110 don't work, try 25 and 110. I have no idea what the difference is, but MacMail on my computer works on 25 and 110.
