A German court said Monday it will delay a ruling on the ongoing iPhone dispute between local rivals T-Mobile and Vodafone until Tuesday. Meanwhile, Apple has confirmed with a press release plans to launch its largest New York City retail store at 6:00 p.m. this Friday.

German iPhone ruling

A court said Monday it would delay by one day a ruling that has pitted cell phone operators T-Mobile and Vodafone against each other over the sale of an unlocked version of Apple's iPhone in Germany, reports the Associated Press.

The Hamburg District Court had been scheduled to rule Monday on an appeal by T-Mobile but said a ruling was now expected to be announced Tuesday afternoon.

On November 12, the court at the request of Vodafone issued an injunction barring T-Mobile from offering the iPhone exclusively with the minimum 24-month contract, and from selling it only with a so-called SIM lock that prevents users from switching the device to any other operator's network.

T-Mobile appealed that injunction and has said it reserves the right to seek damages.

Apple Store West 14th Street

Apple on Monday said it plans to hold later this week the grand opening of a new flagship retail store on West 14th Street in New York's Meatpacking District.

Confirming earlier reports, the multi-level store (1, 2, 3, 4) at the corner of 9th Avenue and 14th Street in the heart of the city's Meatpacking District will open for business Friday, December 7, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. EST.

"Make tracks to the grand opening of NYC?s newest and largest Apple Retail Store," Apple says. "Do your holiday shopping in style with three floors of all things Apple. Be sure to get here early for commemorative T-shirts and other special surprises while they last."

The store will operate 9:00 a.m. to midnight on Monday through Saturday and 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sundays.
