System Specific Memory

Can someone give the inside scoop on this? I'm interested in finding out the difference in specs for system specific memory. Kingston claims "The design is fine-tuned to match the timing of the system, reduce noise and heat, and allow for the most efficient communication between the memory and the CPU"

How much of a difference is this? I know apple users have some loyalty towards mac brands but this seem like a memory scam to jack up pricing and kickbacks. Here is apple endorsing it...

Here are some part numbers if you know the specs:

Kingston KTA-PBG4333/1GR vs. KVR333SO/1GR

I never really understood why, but even now-a-days that Macs use pretty much the same hardware as Windows PCs, they still market Mac specific memory. (Mac Pro is an exception here)

Should be interesting to know the reason.
