Hey. I have a MacBook Pro and lately the heard driver has been louder. Basically, it sounds like it's saving data or something, when i'm not really saving anything. If i'm correct the hard drive is on the left side in the back? If so, does anyone know why this may be happening?

Maybe your system is swapping your data.

That means it writes files from the RAM to your harddrive, when more RAM is needed for the current task.

So if you work with memory intensive software and items, and you have not enough RAM, your systems swaps some data.

You can view your disk activity in the Activity Monitor. There at least you can verify if your hdd writes/reads or not.

The Swap files for RAM are located at: root/var/vm/ .

    Hope that helps.
