What is Apple doing with iMovie and FC Express?

I was reading this article at Macworld

and I am not sure if removing features from a product is a good sign. It seems to be a M$ mentality - we know what you need and we wont provide you the fonts we used to or the soundtrack application. This seems to be a similar issue when people move from iMovie HD to iMovie 08. Many seem to prefer iMovie HD.



At this rate, we are going to end up with Microsoft's Windows Movie Maker and more expensive software for doing anything decent. The whole video editing package is a big plus for a Macintosh and the iLife package. I am not sure what Apple is trying to do - make more money since there is no competition at that price segment by forcing people to upgrade?
