Finder forgets my settings :(

For some reason Finder won't remember my settings (column view, column widths, window size) - it just defaults to spring-loaded folder view.

Any ideas, I've deleted a file called something like "Folder settings", didn't change much.

Thanks in advance.

I haven't changed to column view or anything so I haven't had the same specific problem, but the finder is constantly forgetting the settings I make, like "keep arranged by name" and the like. Also, in the first level of Macinosh HD, not only do the files not stay arranged by name as I have set, but then they rearrange themselves as well. What's going on?

    Remove the invisible file ".DS_Store".

Open Terminal.app, go the the folder that wont keep its view.

    Type: sudo rm -rf .DS_Store

Repeat on the other folders with the same problem.

    Don't work.

I tried it on various 'bad' folders and the problems still persist.

Apple better get their act together on such basic stuff. Its nice to have compatibility with every computer in the universe, but if your UI doesn't work first of all, you gotta rethink your priorities a bit, thacthink?
