403 forbidden on my personal web sharing folder

hey all,



been doing some changes to my system (mainly a hard drive upgrade) and the other night tried to fire up my personal web sharing "server" page only to find a 403 forbidden error "You don't have permission to access /~jbimac on this server". i can access files that are put in my /Library/Webserver/Documents folder but not in my user Sites folder. i have tried changing permissions on the Sites folder and also repairing permissions but no change. how can i fix this problem, anyone?

thanks for the info there! i actually ended up having to replace my entire apache2 folder with one from a time machine backup because the fix didn't seem to be working for me and actually disable my web sharing altogether!



anyway, fixed now, happily!

I installed a clean copy of leopard on a new machine. Personal web sharing works on the 'admin' account, but not on any others. I get the '403' error on my personal account. The .conf file already exists in the proper place with the correct permissions. The default index.html exists in the in the Sites directory, with the same permissions as the one in the admin accounts Sites directory. One works, the other results in a 403 error.

This system was built with the 'advanced' server option. Are there other permission issues to address?

I kept looking for differences between the 'admin' account and my personal one. Turns out I had turned off all access to 'everyone' on my base user directory (/Users/me). Changed to 'read only', and personal web sharing works now.

Buddy you don't tell about leopard operating system. If you upgarde to leopard so check this page docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306884. If you change your apache server so than get guide from their live chat facility.

We need assistance since we cannot access "FORUMS" under appleinsider.com. Link is http://forums.appleinsider.com/ .

 

Error message will display "403 Forbidden nginx/0.7.65" upon accessing the said link. Screenshot below is for reference.

 

 

We already have reported this one to our Internet Service Provider (ISP) and they've suggested to report the issue on the website developer / Administrator since after checking on their end, they haven't spotted any possible causes that will contribute to why we ended up to "403 Forbidded nginx 0.7.65" error message upong accessing http://forums.appleinsider.com/ . We are accessing from the Philippines.

 

We also did perform troubleshooting steps provided under this link http://www.im-infected.com/trojan/nginx-trojan.html but we still do encounter the same error after carefully performing it.

 

Please do help us since accessing this link is in greater need for us. Your help and assistance would be greatly appreciated!

We already reported the issue to our ISP(Internet Service Provider). They've told us and suggested to report what we've encountered to the web developer/administrator for the reason that upon checking on their end, they haven't seen any abnormalities or any reason that let us end up on the error message.

 

We also have done troubleshooting on our end both system and network side and found no abnormalities or misconfiguration internally.

The last time I got this error message I just fixed Apache's web folder permissions using "chmod g+w [directory path]" or "chmod -R 750 [directory path]".
