Mail now has a preference for connecting with SSL. None of my accounts support this. How about yours?

What accounts use SSL? And, for that matter, what the heck is SSL and what does it do?

Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is an encryption layer that can be added to most protocols to prevent bad guys from seeing your passwords and other data that goes over the Net.
