Podcast Sync (new vs. old)

When I would sync my old iPod with iTunes it would add any new, unheard Podcasts to the iPod and update the status in iTunes of any I had listened to. With my iPhone it marks them all unheard (the status in iTunes). Not a big deal, but annoying.
