Upgrade iBook Rev. A to OS X???

I am still stuck in the WinTel world until I can afford a Mac, but had some questions about Mac OS X and the original iBook my parents have (300 MHz). They have the memory maxed out to 288 MB RAM. Should I upgrade their computer to Mac OS X? They only do basic e-mail and internet surfing and use Earthlink DSL as well as use the airport. Is it worth the trouble to upgrade them to OS X? Is the screen resolution good enough? Or will OS 9.2.2 last until a new computer in 2 years or so?

Well, I use X on the same configuration and it's fine. Of course, it is a bit sluggish at times, but -- for me -- it's well worth it to get Project Builder, unix, the Dock and Cocoa, etc.

However, since your parents are just using it for those other things, I'd venture to say that they'd probably be fine leaving it as it is.

Well, they'd be fine either way, but (and this is the only time you'll ever hear me say this) "If it aint broke..."
