Remembering view settings on server folders

Does anyone know of any way to save the view settings when working on a server? I have write permissions and mount the server on the desktop, when I change the view settings in the Finder it saves it until I disconnect from the server but is there any way to save it permanently? In OS 9, as long as you had write permissions, it would save the setting.



I've tried setting view options to 'This window only" but that doesn't work.
