Address Book Pops up and closes in background?

Not having any personal e-mail accounts, I only use web based e-mail, but lately the address book has been opening, then closing in the task bar as if it was searching for something...Is this some sort of feature? I never saw this in Tiger, so unless you all know what I'm talking about I'm just going to assume that my MacBook is possessed, call the church and have their holy ninja's come over and ninja this possessed notebook into shape. What do you all think?
