G5 imac mouse freeze...HELP!

Hey,

Figured someone could help me here at Appleinsider.

My 3 year old G5 imac with 1.5 gigs of ram is still holding up and suiting me well.

HOWEVER. Recently....something odd has been happening.

My regular mouse has been acting weird. It basically works fine...but on occassion after I perform a task with it, like move a window, open a folder etc...there will be a fraction of a second where I can't MOVE the cursor.

It's strange, because it doesn't happen all the time...but it happens ALOT. And although a fraction of a second doesn't seem like much....its EXTREMELY annoying when you try to move your mouse and it doesn't want to respond! :-)

At first I thought it was a memory issue...but I have 1.5 gigs. Maybe not alot by todays standards...but it should be enough for opening folders etc! And then I thought it might be the wire connecting the mouse to the keyboard. The laser underneath is clear of oil and dust.

I just don't know what it could be. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.
