New iPhone in May? Tablet in June?

There is an interesting article referenced here.

Basically:

RUMOR: Next-gen Apple iPhone imminent; new Multi-Touch ‘iTablet’ due in June

Monday, May 12, 2008 - 02:32 PM EDT

"In April, SwitchToaMac.com published a rumor that Apple would be launching the 3G iPhone earlier than expected... in May. At the time, we dismissed it, as the rumor didn't seem to correspond with the circulating expectations that the new iPhone would be launched in June at WWDC. Apple's dwindling stock of iPhones in both the U.S. and U.K. however, has made us look at this rumor once again," Arnold Kim reports for MacRumors.

"As mentioned, SwitchToaMac's source claimed that the 3G-capable iPhone would be announced in May, with the belief that it would be available for purchase the day after the announcement," Kim reports.

"The reason for a pre-WWDC announcement? Reportedly, Apple would instead announce a brand new portable device at WWDC," Kim reports. "No other details of what this device might be, but there have been rumors that Apple was developing a mini-tablet multitouch device for launch in 2008."

There's more there, of course. So tell me, everyone, what do you think? iPhone outages in the United States and Great Britain... do you think that Apple's going to release a new iPhone pre-WWDC?

Oh, yeah, do you think that some kind of a tablety dingus will be released this June or will we wait again? Anyone have a feel for this?

The Mac Touch won't be released until 2009.

I agree, Macworld '09 for the Mac touch seems right.

MT touch "Mac" OS X will take a long time to be ready for public release.

Yeah, right. Apple isn't going to miss the 2008 Xmas sales. The tablet will come out in either June or August. Apple will release a camera in January 2009 and talk about Mac OS X 10.6.

What about the video camera, TV and let's not forget Printer/scanner AIO...

Seriously, I don't see any need or hint of desire for Apple to release a camera and for all the rumors over the years of a tablet or reinvention of the newton the closest we have come is the iPhone. I wouldn't expect much else in a tablet in the near future either, but then again I could be wrong.

Camera isn't a bad idea, market is open for those who can see the tendency and potential, Creative has a camera for easy you tube upload, it is "close" yet not "hot", I also think that apple will expand soon, I personally can imagine few very nice products that apple could make that would fit into line, style and philosophy.

Imagine to make the same they did in mp3 yet with video, it sounds different because in first place you consume the content yet in the second one you create it, still if merged with social networking, good interface and may become more innovative features they can have a hit.

All the millions of DSLR-buying Prosumer photographers would love to have an Epson P-5000 replacement that they can swipe and pinch-zoom and rotate using multitouch.

    $800 of 1.8" HD goodness.

Bring on the Mac TouchyTouch with the MBA logic board and you've got a winner.

It could also have a camera ;-)
