Jag QE - are DVD screenshots possible now?

Because Quartz Extreme fundamentally changes the way our Macs process screen elements, is it now possible to make screenshots of DVDs w/ Cmd-Shift-3?

Or do you still get the blanked out window?

It would be interesting to hear if any Jaguar users have tried this with ATI and/or NVIDIA graphics cards.

(Yes, I know you can do this w/ SnapzPro and NVIDIA cards, but I have a Radeon.)

    Have you tried an alternate dvd-player?

    Try VideoLan: <a href="http://www.videolan.org"; target="_blank">http://www.videolan.org</A>;

    I've tried both the default screenshot mechanism and Snapz and both perform the same (WRT this test) as in 10.1.

    There is a dmg here:

    you might have to still launch the dvd via the terminal though It's in the readme and not too hard ( I figured it out afterall )

    It's also a good general purpose mpeg player, like for playing mpeg2 you might find on the internet. You can open general mpegs via a dialog box.

    For legal reasons, I suspect Apple's Grab will never take screen shots of DVD Player.

    My understanding was that only people with nVidia cards (and maybe only the first run of them) could actually take pics because of something in the way the drivers were written. That may be a thing of the past though. There is no way Apple would purposely allow anyone to take pics of a DVD. Not if they want to be able to include a DVD player in their OS...

    Using vlc, I was able to snap these shots from the Training Day DVD. I have a Radeon 8500 in my Power Mac G4.
