500GB MacBook and MacBook Pro HD?
Is this what I think it is? I really need this and have been waiting. It looks like this will work in my 15 inch MBP.

I don't think so.
Here is another one:

My question is, is there a way of installing one that doesn't void the warranty.
edit: oops I guess mine will not work in your 15", but I have a 17" :-)

Yea the Hitachi is 12.5mm therefore will not work in 15 inch. My warranty is expired and have nothing to lose. However, I plan to eventually buy a new 17 inch. I will get Apple Store to replace. That way the warranty will not be voided?

i'm pretty sure that upgrading your hard drive yourself on a mb doesn't void your warentee, and i don't know why it would be much different on an mbp…

Upgrading your HD doesn't void your warranty on ANY system from ANY vendor, unless you break something doing it.

Important to me was preserving my OS X and Boot Camp installations. Restoring OS X was super easy but I didn't feel like reinstalling Windows again and registering my applications again. If you have this same setup I also posted how I moved and increased the size of the partitions in the process.

Hope this helps...
