Installing 10.5

I am installing 10.5 on my iBook and i have a few questions. All of my music (40+gigs) is on my external hard drive. Is there anyway that I can reload those into iTunes without having to open every folder and file? Also, can I save my playlists? I have an iPhone, is there anything that I need to do to assure that it will work with the new os? I have done a few reinstalls of 10.4 but never 10.5, is there anything else I need to be aware of before doing this? Thanks for the help!

PS: How do I save my Safari bookmarks and passwords?

Are you going to do a complete Erase & Install, Archive & Install, or upgrade? For the last 2, you don't need to worry too much, all your settings get transferred over fine.

For an Erase & install, Safari bookmarks are kept in ~/Library/Safari/bookmarks.plist. Back that up and import the file through Safari's Import bookmarks command when in Leopard. As far as transferring music I'm not certain how to do that.

    1. Set the proper directory for iTunes music library in iTunes preferences

    2. Disable the option to copy files to library / keep folder organized depending on your taste.

    3. Drag and drop the parent folder into iTunes.

    To preserve playlists and ratings...
