Searching related table(s)

I have a database set up for a library. I have one related table where checkout information is stored. I need to search the related table for a report on what is currently checked out but I'm having a heck of a time figuring out just how to set up a script to do that. I seem to be accessing the first record only in the related table for any given item. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
