reading PostScript documents & converting

I'm having trouble opening a PostScript document emailed to me, (file extension ends in .ps) When i click to open in preview it starts to convert the file to PDF format then I get the "application Preview quit unexpectedly" box. This happens every time. Is there any way to read PostScript documents on a mac with another program other than preview since it's apparently not up to the task.
