Can OS X read windows formatted HD?

Hey guys, I'm hoping you can answer me a question.

I had a PC and now work off a mac book pro. I love it. That said, my PC died (I think bad PSU, but not sure). Needless to say I can't get it to turn on. I had 3 HD in it two 80's (one system) and a 160gig that had a lot of stuff on them. Now, I don't need to write to these drives just read from them.

Would I be able to buy 3.25" extrenal HD case, plug in the HD's and read them with my Mac over USB or Firewire?

I don't recall the formatting of the drives, I want to say NFTS, but I'm not 100% on that.

Don't really want to spend a lot of money troubleshooting and using a service to get all the data off my old Windows Machine.

Thanks.

OS X Leopard has NTFS read support so you should be able to put it into an enclosure and be able to read it. There is also a way to get read/write access - here's a video on how to do that:

If it was a boot drive, you should change your drive jumpers to CS before putting it into the enclosure.

    Great thanks.

I didn't see in the video (great info btw), but will this work on 10.4.11 tiger? It looked like he had leopard on his machine, but he didn't specify that leopard was needed.

    Thanks again, so much!
