Used iphone sold as new

My cousin and I went to purchase him a BRAND new iphone from the ATT store. It was wrapped in the plastic and sold to us as new. When we got home and started to play with it, I noticed that when you click on install an app it brings up an existing itunes account. I emailed the person whos email shows and they say that they never returned an iphone. Even weirder we live in Austin TX and the persons email is a University of Texas Students email address.



Any ideas?

    They probly screwed it up at the store. Wipe it and reactivate

    But the Iphone was sealed in plastic? How could they screw it up?
