MacBook won't turn on?

A friend's MacBook (Intel 2ghz) was working one recent evening and the next morning would not turn on. I followed all of these suggestions:

And nothing has worked. Recently I pulled the two memory modules out and they had a white film on the connectors that looked like processor grease - is that normal?



Any other ideas on what to do when a MacBook won't turn on? If it hit the power button a bunch of times, sometimes the screen will blink very quickly, but that's it.



I took a couple photos of the memory modules but it doesn't look like I can add attachments to this post.
