As the title asks: Is it, or is there any possibility that it will get an hardware upgrade anytime soon?

As I see it now, it's a bit weak, and would be so awesome if they upgraded it, atleast just hardware wise!

I think we will see an updated version at MacWorld2009, along with the iMac, and it will get the MacBook innards (i.e. nVidia graphics, DDR3 RAM, 802.11n networking, etc). DisplayPort instead of DVI is guaranteed because Steve told us, but the FireWire400 port is a little iffy. Since USB 3.0 will be faster than FireWire400 I think Apple could very well swap FireWire400 for FireWire800. Once the DVI port is gone the USB ports can be moved towards the center, the audio ports moved to the bottom, making room up top for more vents for better cooling. Even though the Mac mini is an "entry-level" model I can see Apple offering the SSD drive as a CTO option, to help drive the cost of SSD drives down, if for no other reason.
