13" MacBook help

I bought the 13" MacBook 2.4GHz, 2GB on Monday - $1299 minus a military discount (came with a free Canon printer). However, the salesman suggested I not open it until the big event on Tues. I have to admit, I don't know much about computers. I use mine mainly to type minutes from meetings, occasionally watch a movie, newsletters, and a lot of shopping. Should I keep the one I have or go back and get the new one? Thanks!
