Can I hook up my 12"PB to an external monitor using the vga to mini-dvi adapter and then another external monitor using a vga to usb adapter and be able to use them as 1 big screen? (not mirror mode) is there a way to do this using screenrecycler? thanks!

I think screenrecycler is for using the display from another Mac. This USB adaptor will let you do what you want though:

USB adaptors have limited resolution though (I wouldn't go above 1280x1024) and there's a bit of lag. Is there a reason to get another display and not a larger single external display?

I know there is a express card that will give you dual monitor capabilities on a macbook pro... but they are not cheap (if I remember correctly, about $250)

It supposedly will allow you to power two 30" cinema displays though.. (which was why I was originally looking at them) http://www.villagetronic.com/vtbook/index.html

I want to use 2 screens because I am setting up my recording studio. So I like to have the tracks and what not on 1 screen and the mixer on the other screen.

    Thanks for the reply!!

You can get a VGA splitter that would stretch your output over two screens:

I think you have to set your output to an odd resolution. It may be your only option though as I can't remember if the driver for the USB adaptor I posted above is Intel-only.
