Who's internet experience improved with OS X 10.2?

I just finished installing OS X 10.2 half an hour ago.

I've been on the internet since finishing installation and my internet connection seems so much faster than before.

I'm using an Earthlink cable modem, is this a placebo effect or not?

As an adsl user, the POPoE functionality buildt into osx

made surfing so much better than the crappy 3rd party software I had to use in OS9, it made me convert to X imidiataly... Now, I can hardly remember OS9... kinda funny actually...

    Ditto.

dygysy, are you upgrading from 10.1 or from 9?

My iBook also seems to reconnect to my DHCP router (connected to my DSL modem) more quickly on wakeup.

    I love Jaguar!

Transfering files from my old win box to this machine with 10.2 on it is about twice as fast as it was with 10.1.5.

Internet pages seem to load faster also.

    You mean, is the Internet....

Why, yes, I do believe it is.

Faster page loading over DSL routed via Airport.

Yes but what about us poor bastards using 56K? I doubt Jaguar can do much for us, other than launch our internet apps a little quicker maybe.

yes, on my aging beige g3, the web experience has become much faster and much more enjoyable. previously, i couldn't use various flavors of chimera because of slowness, with jaguar, not only is it better, it's much faster than IE in everything except scrolling.

    i'm lovin' jaguar.

my router had major probs even up to 10.1.5. I had to go into the setup page, grab an IP from there, set into the Manual DHCP setup, blah blah blah. Caused MAJOR headaches for weeks.

When I installed 10.2 (clean install, no settings ready yet) and clicked on LAN connection, blammo... connected to the net with no settings needed.

I think this has to do with the updated BSD core as I heard older Linuxxess has this router problem until recently.

In anycase, web experience has been solid and reliable and, I dare say, snappier

well, even though I have it installed on two computers (yes I have the family fun five fritter pack), the iChat thing does not seem to work on the second one for rendezvous chatting....the iMac can not start a session for some reason

    also printing in OmniWeb has some oddities! <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" /> <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

Yes I think the performance of ppp dial up connection is far better. Although I have only been using it for a few hours. Better connection, faster connect time and so far no modem or other errors.

I'm on the plus side: the actual connection speed is higher than the OS 9 I was using until today (better scripts, I'd say), hugely stable connection (so much so that I had to turn the warning about being connected off!) and the speed of iDisks, not to mention Desktop-mounted FTP servers is nothing short of sensational.

I had resigned myself to iDisk being essentially unusable until I get a DSL connection, but Jaguar has totally rescued it.

I don't know about you guys, but my PPP connections have been pretty much flawless since about 10.1.3 if I remember right. I stay logged on for hours at a time - all day if need be.

The only time I ever get dropped is if there is a total lack of activity on the modem's part for more than say 30 minutes or so. But so long as I have my email periodically checking, my ISP doesn't bounce my connection (which is what I think happens to a lot of people).

I concur. After wake up from sleep, connection is immediate with 10.2 and DHCP server. With 10.1.5 I had to wait like 10 seconds. Thats a nice improvement.

    Nice one Apple!
