With just days to go before Christmas, a trio of Apple authorized resellers are making one final push to drive sales of Macs with the deepest discounts we've ever seen on current generation models, including $450 off unibody MacBook Pros, up to $300 of MacBooks & iMacs, and nearly $500 off Mac Pros.

Both ClubMac and OnSale.com have announced a combination of instant discounts and rebates that knock between $430 and $450 off Apple's new line of MacBook Pros. For example, the final cost of a 2.4GHz MacBook Pro after the discounts is $1,568.97 and the 2.53GHz model $2,048.99, compared to their suggested retail prices of $1,999.00 and $2,499.00, respectively.

Similarly, the resellers have knocked $225 to $300 off unibody MacBooks, bringing their cost down to $1,074.00 and $1,299.99 for the 2.0GHz and 2.4GHz models, respectively. The 2.1GHz white MacBook is on sale for $149 off, or just $849.99. For iMacs, savings range from $149 on the 2.4GHz 20-inch model to $300 on the 2.8GHz 24-inch model.

Meanwhile, MacMall has announced the biggest savings thus far on MacBook Airs, including $149 off the 1.6GHz model and $200 off the 1.8GHz model. The reseller is also selling the 8-Core Mac Pro for $2,308.97 -- $490.03 off Apple's suggested retail price.

For its part, Amazon.com maintains the edge on current generation Mac minis, offering $74 off the 1.83GHz model and $89 off the 2.0GHz model. We've updated our Mac Pricing Guide (also below) to reflect the latest discounts.

Mac Price Guide

AppleInsider's Mac Pricing Matrix aims to make it easy for readers to find the lowest price on all of Apple's current generation Mac models. The best prices are highlighted in bold. The "Discount" column to the far right reflects the amount of savings between Apple's retail price and the lowest price offered on December 23rd for that respective model through the company's authorized resellers. The final price factors in any rebates or instant discounts that may be offered by the resellers. Each price is a link that will take you to the reseller's product page for that specific Mac model.\t

The 2008 holiday season for the retail industry is shaping up to the worst since it began keeping tabs on cunsumer spending. So, its not all together surprising to see retailers slash their margins to spur sales, even Apple. One could even read a little deeper and see that Apple wants to clear its inventory, particularly with their 17" MBPs, Mac Pros, and iMacs. Hmmm... falls in line with suspected refreshes soon.

Any chance that this means that Apple will update the MacBook Pro in a couple weeks? I need a new computer, but I want one without any problems with the video card.

I would not count on anything outside a unibody MacBook Pro 17-inch.

    Best,

I think your ClubMac prices are showing 2 $150 rebates instead of the single rebate they are offering.

I went to their site and don't get the same prices you are showing - I show the prices $150 higher.

At least on the MacBook Pro. I looked at 2 of the 15" MacBook Pro options, but no others.

    Sorry - originally said 'MacMall'.

It's across the lines so the retailers seem to be the ones wanting to clear inventory. They could make-up the margins by selling the warranties and most purchasers of the Macbooks buy the warranties. All the rest is in anticipation of the new models as you state.

yep, the same for MacBooks ... maybe they will sell a lot better if they go back to the rumor of a $800 MacBook before they unveiled the unibody line.

Yep. Something certainly just changed on their site. I'm removing this story from the main page as a result. I will look into what happened.

    Sorry guys

The 15" 2.53 MBP is 2150, not 2050, but that comes with 4gb RAM. That's the equivalent of $450 off the standard model.
