Using HDMI and component video

My Apple TV is currently connect via HDMI to my TV. Is it possible to simultaneously connect the component video output to my preamp/processor. I could then route the same signal to my DVD recorder. If it is only possible to use 1 or the other, how would I change the output setting on the ATV?
