Internet Problems

I have a friend who is using Verizon DSL, and constantly gets a message asking wheather to stay connected. If he doesn't click it, then he gets disconnected. He has an iMac DV 600MHz, with OS 10.1.x I believe. I am not farmiliar with this problem, and am confused on how you can connected and disconnect with DSL, since you should always be connected. I use cable...local cable provider, working with PennTeleData (PTD) and it works great, and fast. If anyone could give me some insight i'll love it. I'll even not take credit for helping him

    Run "Internet Connect" ... I can't pull it up cause I'm on an airport right now, but somewhere (I think in the PPPOE section) there is a check-box that will enable/disable automatic logoff.
