In the first new iPhone deal of 2009, Emirates Telecommunications has struck a deal with Apple to carry iPhone 3G both for its United Arab Emirates home and in Saudi Arabia under the Mobily brand.

The news was made public in an ad (shown below) for local newspapers that says little else other than noting details will be available "at a later date," though the phone itself launches later in February.

Apple's handset has a relatively limited presence in the Middle East and is officially sold only in Egypt and Jordan; Qatar has already been announced but is one of only four countries left from Apple's original iPhone 3G launch plans to still go without the device.
