Buy iMac now, or wait for update?

I'm planning to buy a new iMac (24" 3.06ghz top-end model) in the next 2-3 weeks, just before university starts. I need to have the computer by the beginning of March.

Is it likely that by the end of the month, a new iMac will be released? (Today an Apple Sales Rep told me over the phone, that on average, iMacs are updated every 9-11 months). Can I still use the 14-day return policy to exchange my iMac for an updated one, if by chance, new iMacs are released within 2 weeks of my purchase?

To be honest, I'm not really interested in Quad Core. I'd be happy with a very fast dual core processor, and a solid machine that can last me for several years.

The only thing that I don't like about the current top-end iMac is the graphics card. I would've liked a better Nvidia graphics card. Is it possible to somehow replace the graphics card in the iMac?

I would really appreciate advice on buying an iMac in the current context.

So, should I buy now, or wait for the update?
