Help!: Iphone not recognized by new Macbook

Hi, I just got a new Macbook 2 days ago and I have already had a 1st Gen iphone for about a year. I originally set up my iPhone with a laptop that broke, and is unusable now. Since I got my new computer, my iphone will not be recognized by iTunes when plugged in, but it does charge!

Please help me if you can because I just spent 1,400 on this computer and i wanna be able to use it for everything! Also, uninstalling Itunes and reinstalling did not work for me!

Thanks for the help

Is the iPhone jailbroken? I think the new MacBooks have a problem with jail broken iPhones if i read an early article correctly.

Put your iPhone into recovery mode and them plug it in, you will lose your data unless you backed up. iTunes should recognize it and restore the iPhone to default settings.
