On my matte screen, I just use a damp paper towel ... just water, no soap or anything, but then, I know better than to get greasy fingerprints all over my screen
On the glass screens, you could use just about anything you want ... Soap and water, alcohol, Windex....
Hard drive gets backed up using Time Machine / Time Capsule in my case.
I was wondering what everyone here uses to clean there macbook screen and what everyone here uses to backup the hard drive?
I would avoid any alcohol-based products on the screen. The method I use is this: a drop of liquid dish washing soap in a coffee cup and then fill with water. Lightly dampen a cotton cloth and then clean screen.
For back ups: an external drive and Time Machine. Once a year, a DVD back up of really important folders for off site storage.
