They also aren't allowing current iPhone 3G owners the contract pricing. I'll have to pay $399 for the 16gig instead of $199. Last year if you had the original iPhone you got the new contract price for the 3G ...

They clearly don't want too many people running around their network with 7.2Mbps shooting all the video in the world

That is total bull crap! AT&T had better get their act together if they want to extend their exclusivity contract with Apple!

yes, but those folks payed $600 for the original iPhone. (or $400 if they waited a couple months to buy.) ... No subsidy = no upgrade "fee".

If it's the same casing we should get a "buy back special". Seems like 75% of the 3G phones could be reused for the GS.

So you wouldn't be upset if you bought a 3Gs phone and after opening the package, you find that the case is used, the screen is 2 years old, the SN etched onto the back of the refurb'd case has already been registered to someone else and it didn't get unregistered somehow, etc, etc...

I'm gonna guess you'd only want someone ELSE to get the refurbished parts... you'd want brand new ones for yourself...
