After installing the latest java update, a super important java applet I use everyday no longer opens. A textedit file filled with java code (I suppose) opens.

Any tips? I tried deleting the java cache of the app to no avail. I need this app!!!

In your utilities folder, there is a Java folder with a prefs app in it. Try switching the Java version to an older one if you haven't tried this already.

Does this problem happen in all your browsers?

No, changing the order does not work. Changing the browser or user account doesnt work either

When you run these demos, do you get the alt tag appearing in the browser window or do the applets run?

Change the "Open with" application from TextEdit to Java Web Start which can be found in /System/Library/CoreServices/Java Web Start.
