    I am no expert, but ... when you mentioned old arcade games, have you heard of Boxer? Allows you to emulate DOS. I loved playing Commander Keen back when all I had was DOS. Check it out: http://boxer.washboardabs.net/

    You can get old PSone games and run them through the PSX emulator via Crossover or under Windows. Games like Gran Tourismo 2, Test Drive, V-Rally, spy games like Metal Gear Solid 1, Syphon Filter. The compatibility list is here:

    On the MBP, I highly recommend Call Of Duty 4. Prey is quite good, Doom 3 is pretty boring. I haven't had a chance to play Quake 4 through but the demo definitely seemed more interesting than Doom 3. The problem with id games is they try and scare you - if you don't get scared by games, you just get bored.



    I'd skip the earlier Call Of Duty games but it depends on what type of war game you like. I don't like using old fashioned weapons. Night vision and sniper machine guns are more fun.



    XIII is a good game, I would recommend that. Crysis you don't get for the Mac so you'd have to install Windows but to be honest, it looks like a very dull game. There's too much travelling.



    Star Wars Battlefront has the same problem. The environment is big but you can sit for 10 minutes holding the forward key and very little action. Then you get killed and you have to do all the travelling again.



    RHEM looks boring. You'd probably be better buying Myst 2-4 (Myst 5 isn't so good).



    TOCA Race Driver I didn't like. It's a realistic driving game. This means your car drives slowly and corners very badly. Hit the grass and you just spin out. Not fun at all IMO. You can get Need for Speed Carbon though. I don't like the police chases so I tend to go for NFS Underground but that's only on Windows.



    You can check to see if NFS Underground works in Crossover. You can run Half-Life 2 in Crossover and you should get that game BTW. Also get Portal. If you get the PC Orange Box, you get the whole series. Great value for money. I know for a fact that HL2 and HL2:episode 1 work in Crossover. The issue is getting Steam to work - I had to use Parallels to register the account.



    If the choices are the games you listed in the previous post, I'd personally go for Prey. I know Call of Duty 4 is $55 on the Apple Store (Amazon have it for $40) but it's a great game so I'd actually recommend that. It's a shorter game than Prey though.



    By not installing Windows, I'm afraid to say you'll miss one of the greatest games of all time. Bioshock IMO is a must play. Tomb Raider Underworld and Timeshift are really good too.
