I could blow through that $10K in a couple days easy. I'd wait until iTunes updates their movies to 1080P (supposedly coming soon) and buy movies. At $20 and up for the HD versions, it wouldn't take long. I'd also buy complete seasons of my favoritie TV shows/series.

Now downloading all that content - that could take awhile.

Stayed up til one to enter.

waited for 2999 996 000 to ensure it would get through the waiting time. may have a good chance!

It hit the actual number many hours before the counter did.

I just missed winning, I just know it! I bought at the exact right moment but my credit card was rejected as I'd forgotten my new one just kicked in. By the time I found it and updated I missed the winning number ...

This would be business income and so taxable.\

True, but you would still be profit. If you needed cash (in a couple months) that would work... assuming Apple approved your app.

PS: Don't you also have to pay taxes on the $10,000 gift, too.

    Yep.

So you lose the tax money on the initial $10,000 and then… 30% to Apple by buying the app. And then probably more tax on the income you got from the app.

So I really have no idea why he even suggested that.

Yeah I had the counter on my windows pc while on my mac. The counter was still going and when I refreshed on my mac it had the 25 billion home page. Yet the counter was still going on my other computer from when it started hours earlier. I was bummed like I was really going to win anyway =)

Just make a corporation, find an obscure loop hole and pay zero tax.
