Resolution independent user interface design
Abstract
Graphical user interface material map objects are specified by a collection of attribute-value pairs, the collection of which comprises a complete description of the material map and may be used by a rendering engine to create a visual representation of the material map at any resolution. That is, material map representations in accordance with the invention are resolution independent. Another benefit of representing material maps in accordance with the invention is that they may be encrypted to prevent unauthorized inspection or use.

It's taken this long for Apple to acquire this patent.
... and hopefully some LucasArts guys'll come on stage & blow everyone away with a UnrealEngine3-powered "Star Wars" game !!
"TIE FighterDX", anyone?
Tie Fighter is one of my all time favorite games. I really wouldn't mind seeing a new take on it.
The question is - how long will the 'live feed' last before it crashes?
Up until Tim Cook says "there's just one more thing...."
I submitted this news but thought everyone would love this:

I must be missing something obvious that you intend for us to get: can you explain a bit more, for us lay folk?
Predictions:
- iPad 3: Dual Core/1GB/Retina/LTE/802.11ac
- iPad 2 8GB
- AppleTV 1080p
- iOS 5.1 with Siri
- 1080p Movies on iTunes (but not iCloud)

Are you predicting that any iOS device that can install iOS 5.1 will be receive Siri? Bold prediction because I haven't read that anywhere, but I like it. I won't hold my breath since it could slow sales of iPhone4S and iPad3 if you could just install Siri on your old device.
I mean, I know it could happen. Apple saying Siri needs the hardware of the iPhone 4S to function is absolute crap. It seems to be mostly cloud based and Android devices with FAR less horsepower than an iPhone4 have had voice command support for some time. They could have just said it was an iPhone 4S exclusive feature and left it at that.
Sometimes I think Apple says more than they really need to.
EDIT: OH. Unless they let you PAY for a Siri update. That would both be awesome and would make them a ton of money. I could live with that.
but only because of my own expectations being too high
Up until Tim Cook says "there's just one more thing...."
One more thing .... Apple television? Maybe.

Sure hope not.

I think it's time for Siri to migrate to other devices, they have had a chance to iron out the bugs by now. Maybe it will just be the new Apple TV, but I hope it is older devices too.
