When I receive a .gif file in MacMail, It will open in RealPlayer but it doesn't loop. RealPlayer doesn't seem to have that option. Is there another way to cause it to loop?

.gif files are images. 10.7 Lion shows them looping in previews/quicklook. You can also drag them into a Safari window.
To change the default app for animated GIFs, click the GIF file icon and press Command-I. Under Open With, select your favorite browser from the drop-down menu and then click the Change All button. Then you can double-click the file to see it.

I'm using 10.6: I don't understand about dragging .gif's into a Safari window. How is that done?
Edit: never mind. I figured it out.
This goes one step further to open all GIF files:
