iPhone sales strong in India and Russia contrary to reports we saw here the past few weeks. Also margins were up for the iPhone compared to last year, so that means the percentage of high end iPhone 5s has to be higher than the 52% that was speculated here the other day. Emerging markets are buying more iPhones than ever WITHOUT a $200 handset. If Apple came out with a $400~ priced smartphone they would literally own the competition and we could potentially see 40 ...
I wonder if their estimate for gross margins in Q4 is any indication of a possible iPhone Lite?
I think it would be wise if they announced both at the same time and released both at the same time. It looks like according to Ming the iPhone Lite will be ready early September and the 5S will be ready late September. They could feasibly just push the launch of the cheap iPhone to match the launch of the 5S.
Yeah it's weird we got this story yesterday too.   I doubt the iPhone Lite and the 5S would be released at separate times.

0.4 inches really isn't much, unless you're talking about the 16:9 screen ratios of those tablets? I personally find large 16:9 tablets odd to use in that everything is too narrow in portrait, and in landscape everything is short.         Probably won't happen yet. There are still too many things in OS X that are not finger friendly and need the precision of a mouse/trackpad. We will probably see more functionality from OS X make it's way into iOS instead of OS X...
They also don't give the 2x option anymore because it scales full screen automatically at high resolution. I wonder why that wasnt implemented from day 1.Anyway do you think this could be a sign to a larger phone that automatically scales apps up to full resolution?A primary argument people have had against a larger iPhone is if it has a different resolution from other iPhones it would screw developers. But what if that's not an issue anymore because iOS 7 natively scales...
I don't doubt that Apple is testing larger form factors for the iPad and iPhone. This information really doesn't prove that they are going to release a larger iPhone or iPad though. On a side note, I find it interesting that now in iOS 7 iPhone apps are automatically scaled to full resolution on iPads rather than before in iOS 3-6 where they stayed native size and consistently looked blurry on retina and non retina iPads. Could be a sign of more resolution independence...
I think you saw a Galaxy S3. Yes it does look like a big iPhone with a curved back and yes the earphone hole and camera are oddly placed.
I agree on A7.The A7 could be such a huge improvement that using the A6 in the affordable phone would still be a huge downgrade.Another benefit to using the A6 in the affordable iPhone is the cheap iPhone will have another 2 years of OS upgrades rather than 1.
