My Pismo was definitely a lemon. It is still my favorite Mac that I ever owned but it spent more time with Apple then it did with me. They finally sent me this PowerBook G4 because they decided it wasn't worth fixing and sending the Pismo back to me again. Unfortunately, AppleCare gave me a real rough time of it, including the AppleCare plan # not being unique. Every time I called, the AppleCare number I had was matched up with someone's iMac in Florida. Despite assurances...
Apple tried to get into the 'eBook' market back in the mid 90s with the Newtons and the eMate. It wasn't the only function of the Newton like the device listed above but it was a noted feature. I know the market has considerably advanced since the 90s, but the premise is basically the same. The devices back then were considered overpriced and not worth the trouble. It appears that the eBook readers today are still overpriced at the very least. Don't get me wrong, I've...
Well I guess I counted out my TiBook a little early. I guess I'm upgrading it's condition from "Deceased" to "Critical". While hooking it up to an external monitor, the built in screen suddenly came back to life. I guess I was holding it at that 'magic angle' while trying to attach the monitor cable. Now that I have it open in the right position, I'm afraid to close it. I'll probably use the Apple Menu sleep instead of trying to latch it shut from now on. Regardless, I...
My Mac finally died last night at the young age of 4 years, 4 months. I knew my Titanium PowerBook G4/1 GHz was on it's last legs when the hinges started to go a few months ago. It began to fail quickly after that. The battery fell out of the case, no longer able to be held in properly, the power supply failed (I had replaced this many times before), and the computer was 'slow' to wake up, very similar to waking up under Mac OS 8 or Mac OS 9 (not immediatley...
If I were you, I'd just save up the money and buy the computer. Even if you intend to pay the computer off entirely in 90 days to avoid the interest, I still wouldn't trust the credit card companies. I just helped my parents close out their credit cards and they are *still* getting statements as if their accounts were open. I have had to call a number of times to get them to close it out and they returned cancellation request letters to us saying the accounts had already...
Originally, I was waiting for Mother's Day to get my Mom a new computer, wondering if we'd see updates to the MacBook line before then. But as she is a teacher and is on vacation this week so I decided to get one and give it to her today so I can show her how to use it. I was going between the 1.83 GHz MacBook and the 2.0 GHz MacBook and decided that the additional RAM, larger hard drive, extra processor speed, and SuperDrive were worth the extra $200. I knew she liked...
A very good question. Seeing no new content, it's locked.
I'd be stunned if the WWDC keynote was more than 2 hours long. Since WWDC is made up of workshops, it's simply more likely that they don't want any other events going on around the same time of the keynote. If the keynote is actually 3 hours long, we're in for some major surprises.
MacMall is not in New Hampshire, but Mac/PC Connection is (in fact, they are right down the road from me). As for taxes, New Hampshire does not have any sales tax.
The Power Mac G5 was introduced in June of 2003. The cheapest model cost $1999. The second revision came in November, where the low end Power Mac G5 stayed exactly the same but got a $200 price cut to $1799. Other than that, there hasn't been a Power Mac since then that has had a price less than $1999. The low end Mac Pro right now is $2200, and even though the $1799 G5 tower was only around for a few months at that price and every other low end Power Mac G5 was $1999,...
