"There is no reason anyone would want a computer in their home." -- Ken Olson, president, chairman and founder of Digital Equipment Corp., 1977
US telephone/cable companies haven't even implemented 4G completely with many still using 3G, and they want to think about 5G? I have relatives from overseas that simply laugh at how much Americans pay for high speed internet and cable, versus what they get in technology and services in return. They get more for 2/3rds less than what we pay, and companies over there are serious about keeping up with implementation, where companies like Samsung will invest in the R&D to...
Their commercials are based on a bunch of weirdly dressed freaks engaged in the monotonous clicking sound of the keyboard and surface. Very little about what it can actually do to compliment your life. And to limit its distribution to only online and MS stores was a complete fail. Another steamy 'beauty' from Ballmer. When is this guy going to get the boot??
DOA
Big mistake for Apple. People will pay a higher price for the name, build quality, and infrastructure. If this option comes to light, might as well throw the Apple name in the bargain discount bin with Android.
Sounds like Apple cuts its safety net inventory too drastically year after year on new products to save supply chain costs. They've been doing this long enough to where it is now a cost savings strategy, and not a by product of huge consumer demand. For a long time Apple enthusiast, its gotten to a point of aggravation. I won't be upgrading to the new iMac due to the lack of an optical drive. That savings is not passed to the consumer, but to the bottom line, as the...
James Song, a Korean analyst, was saying just last year that "Apple needs Samsung to make the iPhone and iPad. Samsung is the sole supplier of chips, and without Samsung, they can't make these products" I guess Mr. Song, as well as the rest of Samsung, underestimated both Apple and other 3rd party suppliers, as Apple is doing just that. Might take a bit of time to get the wheels rolling, but Samsung will certainly feel it, in more ways than one, once the transition is...
Enterprise won't touch Android due to the security risks and easily hacked infrastructure. That's where the big money is and businesses are lining up for iOS.
Taiwan Semiconductor is looking at building their first plant here in the US, to not only satisfy Apple's demand, but all other domestic customers as well. Aegis, a Mumbai based call center company is building a Dallas metroplex and will add 1K new jobs as part of a US deal it made to hire workers. Many domestic and foreign cars are parts manufactured here in the US with assembly. The idea is that if it is assembled in America vs. China, Taiwan, etc., then it will have a...
Strategy? Oh, you mean the ones that will cost Samsung billions in future revenue? Yeah, great strategy. It would be one thing if there was a another customer like Apple to take its place, but they are irreplaceable in this current market. That's $4 billion in lost revenue, not including the billion they have to pay in damages. If you lost 4% of your company's revenue in a two year swing, you'd be employed about as long as it took you to reach the exit. As I said before,...
