I've heard many good things about those Harmony remotes. Standardization isn't a bad thing. I hate remotes with 67 same-shape-and-size buttons.   If you are going to have a remote or device with a lot of buttons, make them different so they can be made to make sense to a normal human brain. The DirecTV remote has a lot of buttons but I've found myself memorizing the layout and can do everything I need to do quickly and easily as I navigate menus and watch tv.   Think...
The ATV remote is a dichotomy. For pausing, slight scrubbing and playing movies, it's wonderful. I agree that a little more differentiation between the buttons would be nice but overall, it just gets out of the way. For text input, it stinks. A circular pad input like the old iPods nanos would be nice for scrolling and scrubbing but it would require more buttons. It probably could use some Siri functionality to make it pleasing to search and navigate.   I wouldn't have...
Can't wait to see the performance demos of the forthcoming A8. I hope the battery life gets a boost, as well as RAM. I can't wait to hold this in my hands. I really like my iPhone 5S in the leather case. It adds enough heft and grip that makes me feel good holding it. There is such a thing as too thin for being able to hold onto something securely. I have no idea what surprises Apple may have up their iSleeves but I think there might be one or two 'one more things.' I...

Yeah, I agree. They might have pushed a bit hard for glit on v1,  but the ecosystem is definitely there. Kindle does just fine. An amazon phone would be my second choice.
When I watched the intro video, I wondered how that auto scrolling feature was going to work. In daily use, would it be a nuisance or a godsend? I felt that it might be something that sounds wonderful but in reality, quite annoying. What angle is the phone at while clicking on an article...does the article start scrolling immediately? And how fast/slow?   This is the kind of issue that should never see the light of day. It's like trying to install an app on your iPhone...
Swift... another differentiating technology that will make it even more difficult to compete against Apple. I don't see how Android users can live on this planet and still choose Android. All the cool innovation and manufacturing breakthroughs are happening in Cupertino.   Or is there an "Android Insider" forum chock full of rabid Android fans? And what do they get jacked up about other than how fractured their OS is...
Yeah, I worry about some of that corporate lethargy as well. But as long as Apple continues to do things they don't have to (think Sapphire glass and free OS updates), I remain confident in their direction. If they start cutting corners to save costs, that's an Apple I'm not familiar with. I would sell my half share immediately and write my congressman post haste if, say, the 2015 MBP had a plastic case.   The wrong CEO could do a lot of damage.
Well he had something that Jobs deemed valuable. Nothing wrong with loyalty... I guess we'll all have to overlook the Quickbooks/Quicken fiasco. Maybe he brought gifts in other areas to bear.   I agree with others on the new blood requirement. 17 years is too long. That was definitely a reach around from Jobs.
Someone brought up a similar path between Jobs and Nadella upon returning. Let's set aside the return part...   Nadella gets to the top spot and looks around and doesn't like what he sees. He also knows that this is a golden opportunity to cut jobs where wall street will reward him. Right now it looks prescient and smart. A year from now it will be criticized.   Jobs came in and cut shit right out of the product matrix. Even things that seemed forward thinking (Newton)...
