They should have hit return to get the correct total. It makes a lot more sense for the 50k sales to be from Korea than worldwide. It's available in over 140 countries. This would be around 1.2m units per quarter or 4.8m units per year so could well be exceeding sales of Casio G-shock watches. However, bundling it with the Galaxy Note 3 when it's bought on a 2 year contract makes it really hard to determine demand. They sold 5 million Note 3s in a...
If these numbers are genuine and not just sales in Korea, this is a massive flop as these are sales just after launch. They must have produced a run of at least a million units. People keep assuming that the size and value of the watch market translates into a market for a digital watch. Luxury watches are propping up the watch industry and people buy those because they are items of jewellery. You don't buy an Omega watch with the intention of checking email on it. A...
Latency is delays involved in processing signals so if you had signals from different sources, they might go out of sync. It would have to be quite a lot to notice but it can happen. It's important in real-time signal processing like live video/audio. DJs sometime use video output too and the audio should sync up with the video. The more that technology progresses, these issues aren't as relevant as they used to be.
Why is it a bad thing if the 5C isn't selling as well as the 5S? That's a good thing for Apple as the 5S is a higher priced and higher quality product. This has been the case in the past where the iPhone 5 outsold the 4S. There's a tracking company here that shows some sales ratios: http://www.localytics.com/blog/2013/is-the-iphone-5c-catching-up-and-what-to-expect-from-apples-1022-ipad-launch/ It suggests the ratio of 5C to 5S is improving but still the 5S outsells the...
There's a page here with the usual raft of comments having one preference or another: http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2012/10/pc-vs-mac-for-djing/ Makes a change from iOS vs Android these days. Macs typically have better firewire support; even with Thunderbolt, it's an adaptor away. This tends to have lower latency and CPU usage for audio processing than USB and can be daisy...
Looks like Samsung again but one of their Malaysian operations this time.
Y'know, you only have to sit with your legs that far apart when you play the cello. Salman Rushdie looked like he was having a great time conducting. Some data centers even with SLC have reported failure rates only slightly better than would be seen with HDDs:http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-reliability-failure-rate,2923-6.htmlThe failures weren't due to the type of NAND either, which may explain why SSD manufacturers are shifting to cheaper NAND. If the main causes...
One thing you can try is connecting the iMac and MBP over firewire, putting the iMac in target mode by holding t at boot and boot the MBP from it. Then see if you get the same issues plugging the devices into the MBP. If nothing goes wrong, you'll know it's an issue with the software on the MBP. You can try flushing the caches on the MBP by holding shift at boot time, see if the drives work ok in safe mode, then reboot. There is an instruments app that comes with XCode to...
Is the iMac running a newer OS? I remember there being issues with PC formatted drives on older versions of OS X. You can perhaps try using NTFS-3G to override the OS handling it:http://macntfs-3g.blogspot.com
The problem is people will use their laptops differently. When I type or use the trackpad on a laptop, I don't rest my hands on the front. My sleeves or wrists would be there. It's actually quite difficult to use a laptop with palms rested there so I doubt the staining would be a common issue. The protector cover above even says that Apple recommends it for "demanding users". People on forums tend to react based on the assumption that everyone has the same usage habits as...
